I'm buying one of those when they come out, any ideas on price yet?
They're talking $25k for the 6.1 hemi with the 6-speed
Who said 25K? I know MPH guessed 28K.... but you're dreaming if you think it's gonna come with a 25k price tag...

The mustang GT is only around $25k for the base model, so why wouldn't the V8 version of the Challenger be? Of course that would be the base without much options. I'll dig up the info saying that and post it up here. I think the one that was going to be closer to $40k was the SRT version.

The 6.1 would not be the base... More like the 5.7 or 3.5...

I meant the base model V8, which I thought they were going to use the 6.1 for. It may be the 5.7, I'll try and find that info I had to confirm. The 6.1 may be the SRT version, which would make perfect sense at $35k. If they make the 3.5 version, I see that being $20k or less. Chrysler is making this car in answer to the mustang, so I can gaurentee it will be similarly priced with similar options: Cobra vs SRT, GT vs RT, econo vs econo.

Now that is a remake/reinterpretation of a classic car done CORRECTLY!!!!

It's got all the styling of the classic Challenger and still looks bad ***

If thats the case then they better make the Challenger lighter and use that 500 horsepower 392 to match or best the upcomming Mustang Shelby GT500 which was originally going to be between 450 to 480 horsepower, but now is being pushed towards the 500 horsepower mark to match the name. Either way the Challenger needs to go on a diet if it wants to put the Mustang in it's rear view mirror where it belongs, and if it doesn't then I will have to call the Challenger a failure. That's not to say that it would keep me from wanting or getting one so long as it remains the same as the concept and is any where near affordable.

Have any figures on weight been published? I keep hearing about how much this thing will weigh and I thought I had been paying pretty close attention to all information pertaining to it. Seems like everyones convinced it will be a cow! The concept is a carbon fiber body so no weight info can be gleaned from it. Seems to me it's just a guess right now what it will weigh. There are any number of things DCX could do to keep the weight down and they know that the Mustang will be their target. I'm optimistic that it will be closer to the Mustangs weight than the Chargers.

It is going to be based off the LY platform, which is about 4.1" shorter than the current Charger. It will probably weigh a bit less than the Charger, which is 4100lbs. Mustangs wieghs in at something like 3750lbs.

They did have the 392ci 500hp motor in the car at SEMA, so maybe it will be a possiblity for the SRT Version. A few things like a carbon fiber hood and quarter panels on the SRT Version would likely bring it down to the same weight as the future shelby GT500. I guess only time, and a little luck, will show us whats in store. As far as the mustang GT wieghing less than the Challenger RT, well I don't see that being a problem with the Challenger having tons more power. The 05 GTO was better than the Mustang GT in every aspect except one, which overall killed its sales, and that was the body design. If the Challenger has at least as much power as the GTO and looks better than the Mustang, it will be the top seller for sure.
