Default RE: Rear Diff Service - Lots of Pics!

Wow, that's a lot easier than I thought it would be, but maybe it's just cause I'm looking at pictures and not actually doing it! Just a few questions:

What kind of oil is does it take?
Where did you get that digital (I assume) force reader, and is it part of a wrench, and how much was it?
If you were to get a different cover, do you have to modify it to fit properly?

Sorry about all the questions. After seeing that, I want to get a new cover and do it myself! ha ha.

Thanks man!

Like Drew said, no RVT on the AAM axles. This was nice, as it made for the easiest diff service I have ever done. No waiting on the sealant to skin, no mess, etc.

As for the pump, just go to NAPA.....they are about $7.

By the manual, both diff's take 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil. If you daily drive it and tow lightly on occassion, that's fine. But, if you are gonna tow heavy and often, go with the 75W-140 Synthetic.

I'm cheap and change my fluids way more often than I need to, so I tend to skip the synthetic stuff.

My Torque Wrench is a Craftsman DigiTorque. I like it. Only problem is it only goes down to 25 ft/lbs.

With aftermarket diff covers, you have to go by the manufacturers specs.

All the bolts are 13mm, except the fill plugs. They are just 3/8" square drives.

Ok. Seems like everything else on the truck (atleast what i've messed with : starter, radio, few other things) are 10mm.

Did the pump come with the oil or did you hafta buy that seperately? I don't think I've ever seen ( or noticed ) gear oil in gallon jugs. What kind is it?
