not another bypass filter install

I know steve has one. . .I bought one a while back and finaly got the time to get it installed. I put mine in a different location than steve. still in the engine compartment, protected from rocks and debris from the road

I figured below my air filter would be the best place to put it. close enough to the regular filter, yet out of the way.

I had to remove this piece to gain acces to the frame. thisis what the stock air box mounts to for air. very flimsy

this is what that piece of plastic was covering. the perfect place for the filter.

another shot with the headlight removed so I could install it easier.

here is the drilling template, I only installed two of the bolts. works pretty well so far

here she is installed and the holes drilled. I had to remove the pipeing from the turbo to the intercooler so I could get my drill in. .. rather tight quarters.

the line going from the filter mount to the bypass filter

a shot of both lines and the top of the filter mount.

and the cap where the filtered oil goes back into the engine.

and one more thing that yall might like. . .just me messing around and wishing I could get her to sound like that all the time

COOL write up !! Put it up at the top in the DIY section.

In this pic it looks like the oil for the by-pass comes from the top of the current oil filter. Is that fitting on top alreay there and just plugged, or is thata whole new oil filter top?

The top also looks like oil is working it way up the bracket. Is it ?

on some 3rd gens there are two ports there for oil taps on the stock filter mount. as far as oil climbing up you are right. I would say it was from filling the filter before instalation, then as you drive and the fan turning the oil being wind blown up like that.

Is that a screw on filter? It looks more like a coil than an oil filter. It looks small and the top looks weird.

here is a pic of the whole kit. . .I should have gotten the 100 filter instead of the 110. that 110 is a huge MoFo and should have to worry about it for a while

I should ahve taken a pic of the top where the filter mounts. it is a VERY nicely machined piece of aluminum. there is a brass plug in it with a small hole drilled in it that keeps the flow slow. and yes it is a spin on filter.

no I didnt get the fuel filter attachment. . .I'm gunna go a similar route that triton did and use a 2 micron filter.

NOW I see how it goes together. From the other pic it just looked goofy.

just make sure, if you install this like I did. . .and remove the intake tubeing. . .to tighten all the clamps back down. I left the one to the intercooler loose by accident and had a VERY interesting commute to work this morning. . .65mph MAX and after 15lbs boost it sounded like a cat was cought in the fan belt[:@]

I've been thinking about doing this to my truck if I don't get rid of it. It has 172k miles on it. Is this going to help it or has the damage already been done? I have run Amsoil 15w-40 in it since day 1.
