Default New to the diesel thing...need help

OK so i just got an 07 dodge ram 2500HD with the 6.7 cummins and i have had it for like a month now, i bought it brand new with 60 mile on it, it had like 3800 on it now, on the way home tonight it threw 2 codes, (P2261 - T/Super Charger Bypass Valve-Mechanical) x 2 not the truck ran perfectly fine, not even a hiccup, boosted normal, i mean it showed no sign of any error, so anyone have any ideas, or the same problem?

There have been some problems with the new variable turbos on the 6.7L
Might be something simple like a re-flash.
I'd take it in and get it checked when you have time.
That's what warranty is for!

It's pretty common on the early 6.7's to throw codes on the turbo.

There have been several flashes and TSB's that have addresed the problems.

Bring it in, they'll flash it, maybe clean the turbo and EGR.

If it happens again, they'll tell ya to drive with the exhaust brake on.

If it happens again, theyll replace the turbo.

That's what normally happens.

Let me ask......

Do you use it as a daily driver or do you do what it was intended to do.......tow?

If you use it as a daily driver, the turbo, EGR and DPF get all clogged up.

Here's the easiest fix for it..........

DRIVE THE SNOT OUT OF IT WITH THE HEAVIEST TRAILER YOU CAN FIND!

I'm not BS'n ya! That's exactly what it needs.

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's, rent the trailer with the backhoe on it and DRIVE THE DOG CRAP OUT OF IT for a half tank or so.

Get the boost and EGT's up for a while and all that built up carbon and crud gets flushed out.

I guarantee it'll run better than it did when it came off the lot.

Congratulations, you lost your CEL virginity. These 6.7L Cummins throw turbo-related codes now and then. Mine's had that same code before, but it goes away on its own after a couple of weeks. Take it to the dealer if you're really concerned.

I have an 08 6.7 got it new and I now have 2,700 miles on it. I was standing outside and it the tuck was running it sounded like the exhaust break was turned on while ideling but the engine break was off. I got back in the truck and the tranny light was on. The truck has no power now what so ever. Cant hear the turbo spoiling I mean it is just weak I cant get over about 30 mph. Does anyone have a clue what the problem may be?

How much time does is spend idling?

Like I was saying, the early 07's had some turbo issues, mostly related to soot buildup, that were causing a ton of issues with the variable nozzle turbos.

More than likely what's happening is the nozzle is sticking and you're not getting 100% range of motion from it and this will trip codes.

I would almost guarantee that if you bring it in, they are gonna flash it and probably clean the turbo.

They've been telling folks to drive with the exhaust brake on around town and suppossedly this has helped for some guys.

it spends very little time idling, and i do drive with the brake on almost all the time, i did take it in, they are reflashing it cleaning the turbo, the exhaust manifold and the particulate filter, i get it back today, we will see what happens
