2500 RPM Boost Loss

Hi I am farily new to diesels and have a 06 Ram 2500 that I am having a problem with. The truck is fine when driving normally but when you go to full throttle and the truck downshifts, as soon as it hits 2500 RPM it looses all its power and it sounds like the boost blows out. I know these dont have BOV's so Im wondering what could cause it. If I keep on the pedal it just bogs and sticks around 2000 RPM. I also don't have any lights on as far as the dash. I read some threads last night and as a result changed the fuel filter this morning. Unfortunately that didnt fix the problem. Any suggestions? When the fuel filter is changed do I need to disconnect the battery to reset the computer? Any help you can offer is apprecaited. Thanks Brian

First off, tell us about your truck. Year, auto trans, 4X4, etc. Different trucks have different problems.
You don't need to reset your computer after changing the fuel filter, or almost anything else.
You probably have a intercooler boot blown or torn. Those are the big rubber hoses connecting the turbo, to the intercooler, and then the engine.

sounds to me like an boot rip. when you drive normally does it hold boost? do you have a boost gauge?

Intercooler's the sides are plastic on some years 05 or 06?????? maybe that too. check with a spray bottle with soapy water spray it on the hoses and intercooler to see here it bubbles.

There also is a problem with the boot clamps breaking on those trucks and under a certain amount of boost it will open up at the connection and blow out. I'd check all your boots and clamps make sure there not bad or broken.
