12 valve smoke
I have a 93 12valve cummins setting at the house, and I want to figure out how to make it smoke without messing up the fuel pump. I know it has a "smoke screw" and that is turned up already but I want to figure out how to make the thing smoke without messing wiht much. Help me out here.

How can you turn up the fuel pump to give it move fuel? A buddy who lives near me has a 96 12 valve and that thing smokes. he has the fuel plate shaved down to basically nothing, the pump cranked and the screw truned. It has a 8in. lift with 38in. tires. This truck is nice. But how do you turn the pump up? Do you have to take it a part to do this, or is it like a 10min thing?

I cant tell you for certian, but on the VP44 pump you have there is a short screw you pull off and take an allen head to adjust. It doesnt take much, just a little goes a long way, if you go too much one way or the other you will either lean the engine out too much, or be dumping so much fuel the engine wont run right.
the VP44 is a tough pump and is capable of dumping MASSIVE amounts of fuel into the engine. all in all I would say it would be a 45-1hr deal, most of it being test and tune

Well on a 93 cummin, there is what I've heard is call a smoke screw. I dind't know if you knew that or not. But there is a cap type thing that you have to tear off, and there is a screw that you turn with an allen wrench. I already have that screw dumpin a little smoke but i want much more than a gray haze, I want something that can really be seen.

RE: 12 valve smoke
I found this on a search of another site I frequent.
. . .loosen the starwheel, turn it towards the front of the truck. you can also do some AFC adjustments if you know how to make them. you can move the foot foward in the housing, allowing more off boost fuel.
. . .Star wheel controls spring tension against the diaphram in the afc housing. If it is set loose the lever can travel forward at lower boost and increase fueling. Tightening it will cause the lever to stay back untill boost level goes up. Less smoke on bottom if tight, more smoke on bottom if loose. . .
you just need to watch how far you turn it, too much will damage the pump.
