Default I would like to introduce you to. . .

the mother of all air filters

this is the NAPA 2790 air filter, or called the BHAF (Big Honkin Air Filter)

it stands 11.88 inches tall, 10.5 inches in diameter, has a 4 inch intake fitting and is just plain BIG!!!

here are some pics I took as I put this monster on. it is quite a tight fit to get onto the intake tube, but it will go with some moderate pressure and a large flat-head screwdriver

next to it is the stock filter just to show how big this thing is

Just curious if you noticed a sizeable gain in performance from such an upgrade?

I'd be curious about the gains. In paticular any mileage gain. If I can get my 1st gen over 21 mpg's I'll be beside myself. Let us know please.

I filled my tank up yesterday, so far nothing different other than I can tell the turbo spools a tad bit quicker and starts to spool a few hundred rpm lower.

just from the way the engine sounds I can tell she is breathing better, which is a BIG plus on a diesel.

Did you have to use a Sledge Hammer to close the hood or what? that thing is a beast. It looks like a filter off of a Mack Put an outside airbox on Beasty and you will be the man!!!
