it's not normal, bring it back to the dealer. My 48re is pretty good in the way it shifts, especially in the tow/haul mode. my one grip is that I cant lock out OD.
I concur with STEVE00RAM360......my 48RE has been shifting fine at all rpm's (low/mid/high) and works perfectly in TOW/HAUL mode as well as OD OFF. Like STEVE00RAM360 said, it would be nice to be able to turn off OD while in tow haul mode when in the mountains and hold 3rd gear nice and steady up the hills.
I'd take the truck back to the dealer and have them either flash the ECM or look at the trans itself for any issues!
my runs smooth like silk.. and accually today i talked to a service department about the tranny and he said this particular tranny is excellent since he has been there in 3 years he has only seen one ever come in...

Mine shifts only a little rougher when I am in tow/haul mode and I am actually towing or hauling nothing.
I can't call it really rougher, its more like a faster jump from 2nd to 3rd or something.
I drive the truck everydfay for a living and after 61000 miles no strange feelings yet on tranny and trust me I had my share on my 1997 - 1500 gasser.
Have them check it out at the dealer, most dealers will understand that the truck is new and it should shift fine. it could be as simple as a bad-sensor.. they will find out.
Let us know and good luck
Mike
