swede, there are no mileage gains or losses or power gains or losses with doing this, that piece was installed by DC soley for sound reduction in the cab.

DeAnne, you need to get a boost elbow in order to crank the boost higher, go to TST's website and order one.

I couldn't get the snap ring to budge so I am going to get some snap ring pliers rather than take a chance and damage something. Other than that everything was a breeze.

It's an internal snap ring with no holes for snapring pliers. Just keep at it with two flatblade screwdrivers.

The end of the ring is tapered so you really only need one medium sized screwdriver. Place the screwdriver like I have it in the fourth picture and push it in behind the snap ring. Once it starts to go behind the ring, slightly angle the screwdriver away from the turbo and keep pushing, it will come out. Just be careful not to slip and cut your hand. ...

Noticed that your ring had a felt pen mark on it. Did you do this or did it come from DC that way?

I just removed my silencer ring today and a good tip for this job as well is to get a lint free rag and spray it with some brake cleaner and wipe the inside edge of the turbo where the snap ring was. When that ring comes out it rubs two sharp edges together and makes some very small shavings. Brake cleaner wets the rag to grap the particles but drys super fast and leaves no residue.

That'sa good tip !!

I used the blue painters type masking tape and stuck it to the inside ring a few times to make sure that i got it all out. It worked.

I'll post pics later.

Watch out on that brake clean, if you pull the vapors in to your engine when you start it, it could detonate causing serious damage.
