I removed the baffle from the intake tube, also using large aftermarket filter in stock airbox....have a custom cold air intake, drilled whole in bottom of intake box and attached a hose running down to under the engine compartment.
yeah it's an intake baffle, I never removed mine, I just sapped in an AFE stage 2 setup. IIRC reading about it, you just cut them out.
I cut mine off and this is what they looked like when I got finished with them.
Cutting those out was more trouble than taking the ring out. It didn't make any audible difference at idle or driving the way I do (like a grandpa), but when you get on it, it sounds pretty cool. My wife said it sounds like an airplane.
