Default 07 or 08

I'm looking to buy either a 07 or 08, the 07 has the 5.9 both are 6 speed manuals and have about 100,000 miles.
I'm new to the diesel world and was wanting to know the pros and cons to both engines and which one you would buy as the price is about the same for both. I will be using it to tow a #8000 trailer through Ky. and Tn.
Thanks for any info.

IIRC, if it's from 2007.5 or newer, it comes with the newer 6.7 Cummins.

The newer engine will have all of the emissions garbage on it that you will want to delete.

the older engine does not have all that emissions crap on it.

emissions crap being: EGR, DPF

EGR + diesel + soot going through the intake...not a good thing.

I notice you have a 95 V10 4x4. If the total load is say 8,000 lbs, why not swap a 12 valve in your 95 truck and mate it to your existing 47RH tranny? Just curious. There's probably lot's of 12 valve diesels with the KDP issue fixed, in the million mile club. K.

Small wiring job, turbo & lines, fuel management, gauge cluster, dual batteries setup, exhaust (but nothings cheap anymore).

Thanks for the replies guys.
Tincan, the only reason I'm thinking of getting a different truck is mine is rusting out bad. (I live in the rust belt) It still runs fine.
For what people are wanting for used trucks around here I'm starting to think body work will be cheaper.
