anyone have any idea what kind of rear end you should put in, besides a posi, that would be good for dragging or can my stock rear end take it without throwing an axle, I have a 99 dodge dakota 3.9l v6 a few smal upgrades prolly 2-3 more horse than stock, 5 spd manual

look under the rear and check the bolt pattern first. 12 bolt is the 9.25 and the 10 bolt is the 8.25 if you have the 12 bolt dont worry about it my 4.7 with all the moding and cams puts a hurtin on my stock 12 and it holds up. but if i had the 10 bolt i would blow it up.these rears are pretty strong. they go in the full size hemis

If you ever get serious about power, a Dana 60 or a Ford 9 inch is the way to go.

The quick change style rear end (a modified Ford 9 inch)
has long been the serious choice:

http://www.stockcarproducts.com/rear7.htm

this style can have change the ratio in less than 20 minutes by changing two spur gears behind an access plate...but there is slightly more friction due to these gears.
