Dodge Truck Boost Options

Dodge Truck Boost Options
Some of use were talking about Boost via IM. I thought I would start this thread. For the 4.7L there are supercharger kits by Paxton, kenne belle and now STS rear mounted turbos.
Considerations
1. Tuning, i.e. proper engine retard per boost ratio.
2. Fuel Maps, i.e. Increasing fuel delivery to match boost.
3. Cooling the boost, trying to keep EGTs from sky rocketing.
4. Exhaust. More air comming in faster, got ot get it out faster.
5. Sensor, more systems will require monitoring, etc.

Without a doubt, your going to want to run sct when using a power adder. For the price and the exceptional outcome, it's worth it. Currently, marty fletcher is gaining 20hp per lb of boost. Today he is running 466rw 470tq------13 psi on a bone stock 360 motor.
If your going to run a rear mount turbo set up, which can be bought for $2600 with all tuning and injectors, an intercooler isn't a necessity nor is meth injection, as the length of pipe and the air on the pipe will help cool the charge, this isn't to say you CAN"T go wrong with adding an intercooler or meth injection.
For a s/c motor, your going to want an intercooler or meth inection for anything over 6-7lbs of boost unless you live in alaska. The intake air charge will raise +10 degrees per lb of boost on top of the outside air. If you are hitting 12 psi, and it's 80 degrees outside, your intake air temp is reading 200 degrees or plus, which will cut your performance in half.
Blown is using meth injection, which you can control via a dial in the truck, to control how much or how little of the application is being applied. This also helps eliminate detonation, which is a big problem when your forced induction.
I am going the sts route, and am going to monitor my intake air temps first and then I will either add an intercooler or meth injection, it will most likely be meth.
A completly stock 360 motor making 460rwhp for $2600 bucks.
Lets get some forced induction activity in this forum, and bring this forum to life.

Now your talking. What boost options are available for the 360? I now there is the Paxton Novi 2000 and STS turo setups. I think I've also heard of Vortec and Procharger set ups.

procharger is prone to horrible belt slip when you go above 8psi. Vortech is what I ran and it was top notch. There is a pisc which is a 1000cfm procharger, and the d1sc which I believe is 1400 cfm. Vortech head units are a v2sq (super quiet) and that is a 1000 cfm blower, and a v1-ttrim which is a 1200 cfm blower, and then the all mighty ysI trim blower which is 1600 cfm.
There is a kenne bell, but that will have to be found used on ebay or somewhere which is a manifold blower, and offers boost instantly. Powerdyne is a blower for about 6psi, NO more, it has internal belts rahter than gears, and belts break/snap. Paxton is a great unit, they have a novi 1000 and a 2000, I believe the 1000 is 1000cfm, and the 2000 is 1400cfm.
If I was looking to do a blower, I would go vortech for a few reasons. Since none of these kits are made anymore for our trucks, they will have to be pieced together from another mopar, brackets etc. With the vortech, rtmods.com sells the vortech brackets etc, so you can buy any head unit you want, and then buy his brackets for $1000, which includes plumbing etc. This is my truck @ idle with the vortech t-trim. You can hear how loud the blower whine is at idle, it's very nice

2600 for the STS kit is an incredible price...
With a tuner, and tune, a wideband kit, and some dyno time, you would be able to get out with around 4K... that sounds like a great way to spend some tax money.
