Default Are you towing?

I just bought a hitch kit package from etrailer. I am going to tow a 14' boat with a 25hp motor which I am sure is well under the 1000 lb limit.

My ride 2013 SXT 2.0 6 auto with aero package, shutters and underbody, riding on the stock 17's.

just to be on the save side,, find out the weight of the boat, weight of the motor, the weight of the trailer itself,, and what is in the boat you are towing,, are there any scales near you that you can put the trailer and boat on to find actually weight. You might be surprised.. watch your temperature gauges while towing for the first few times towing.

happy boating

cheers

Der I have not changed my ride yet, I had to sell it last fall and I can only have one vehicle for now. So I bought a small boat since I don't want to buy a big rig yet. Otherwise I'd be getting a new spendy truck which means I would have to get a bigger fancier boat. Then I'd be broke :-)

Finally got the boat hooked up, total package from etrailer was 235 including a spendy wiring kit $50+. Wiring kit is legit though with a circuitry "black box" and the dart already had a spare power wire ran to the battry!

I brought it to a small lake very close by. Took it up some short steep hills which the car did not like but downhill braking was very acceptable. I could feel it back there but it did not push the car around very much. The trailer is long, likely designed to hold up to a 16' so backing into a steep ramp my car did not even get close to the water.

Still have yet to get it on the highway, which will likely be a 5th gear keep it under 60 situation.
