Unhappy Transmission Troubles

I have an 01 Durango that recently lost all forward and reverse gears. There was no warning and no noise or slippage, just gone at once. I have removed the transmission, transfer, and torque converter and noticed that there is a gear in the throat of the torque that seems to flop around when the converter is tilted from side to side. I was thinking along the lines of a torque converter or pump problem as all gears were gone at once, and after seeing this inside the converter I was wondering is this is where my problem lies.

I appreciate any and all help on this matter as I am not a mechanic, and I do not wish to change the trans if the converter is my problem. Thanks in advance.

Rich

Smile Transmission Problems

I had someone take a look at my transmission and the rear seal is bad. All the fluid leaked out in the middle of the night. I need an economical place that I can take it to get fixed. I live in the Chester VA area.

Hi Rich
Have had any work done on the transmission? I know you have a 2001 durango, is that with a 5.9 or 4.7L engine? Because if you have a 4.7L and you just had the transmission service, the o-ring that needs to be installed into the pump may not be installed. This will cause you to loose all gears.
