I would speculate that Dodge might do this but it will be a huge gamble if they do. The reason is that out of the 32,000+ 2012 Durangos sold so far, only 7% of that number constituted the R/T trim, with the majority being the crew/SXT models. My thoughts lead me to believe that not too many people are in the market for a gas guzzling 5.7L V8 due to current conditions in the economy and escalating fuel prices. This being the case, doing an SRT8 version of the Durango might impact bottom line profits for a company that was already in danger of going bankrupt and it might not be worth the gamble. I would venture to guess that Chrysler is much more apt to make the conservative decision here and just let people who want a 6.4L V8 behemoth opt for the Jeep Grand Cherokee version instead.

Now, that all being said, this is merely speculation. But the plus here is that the Brembo brakes for the JGC SRT8 are directly compatible with the 2012 R/T...from what I researched. Looks like it may be time to stash away a few grand to get these bad boys on my R/T...I am not entirely impressed with the braking system as it is. Of course, I may elect the less expensive road and just do DOT5 fluid, cross-drilled and slotted rotors, and ceramic pads instead.

All this will have to wait until after the new wheels (285/40R22) and Magnaflow exhaust arrive next week...woot woot!

I cant see it especially since the intro of the new Jeep GC SRT8 has ridiculously brought that truck into the $60,000 + range, i love the idea of it and looked at the new jeep but not at that price!

I am looking at the Jeep SRT8 by default, but would love to have a Durango SRT8.

Maybe they would make a special SRT8 durango as a departing memorable model of the durango when durango will be no more.

I hope it is soon as I will most likely be trading my 2007 within the next six months.
