Default Manually Open Blend Door

I have a failed blend door actuator on a 99 Dodge Intrepid with ATC. Apparently there are no actuators to be had as there are over 500 back ordered across the US. While I wait for my mechanic to find a used one somewhere, can I manually open the blend door so I have heat. If so how? I am in the Northeast and had plan to have my son use it in Upstate New York.

I just went thru this with my 99 Intrepid with ATC.There are 3 tiny screws that hold the blend door motor on the bottom of the assy behind the dash. You can only get to them from the drivers side and they are not easy to get to.I could only get 2 of them out which let the motor drop down enough to move the door. Now for the part you may not want to do to your car,I had to take a long(10") flat blade screw driver and drive it thru the side of the heater assy and manually close the door.Quite a PITA job as I saidyou may not want to do it.Call me if you need any more help

So you used the screw driver to punch a hole in the heater assembly. And through this hole you use the screw driver as a push rod to close the door?

So I can see doing this with a thin stiff metal rod and then when I can get an actuator motor, sealing the hole with silicone.
