I have a friend that I am helping with their 99 intrepid. The key will not turn the cylinder on the steering column to start the car. It has been very cold the last week and we have had some ice and snow but I don't know that that could have caused the issue.


I believe the cylinder just has to be replaced but it appears that you have to be able to turn the key to depress the tab that holds the cylinder in place. Anyone else had this issue or know if this is true? How big of a job am I looking at if I cannot turn the key to remove the cylinder?


If anyone has any other suggestions I am all ears. Thanks .
