2010 journey with honking issue.

caring is one thing doing is another
It seems to me that there are a lot of unhappy people here and the source is the horn of an automobile. Given that this problem started in 2010 you would think in five years that there would be a solution. I understand that a horn might not be that important in the scheme of things, but Dodge you need to work this out so that your dealers can handle the likes of me. I to have the same problem as all the other people in this forum. We need a solution now. I have done basically what all the other people in this forum have done, and still no satisfaction. Please get us a solution so that people quit looking at us like we're being rude to them.

2010 Dodge Journey- crazy honking horn. Thinking it's Christine all over again. Looks like it is a trend. Anyone working on getting the word out to the dealerships here? Probably a good idea!! Taking the fuse out is not a good solution- could cause you all some problems down the road.

Honky Journey
I bought my 2010 Journey SXT relatively brand new in March 2011. About a year ago it started honking on its own. Cute at first, it has gotten worse. Since Dec, it has been in the dealer shop three times for this problem. First two times, they couldn't replicate it so they did nothing. The last time, end of July 2015, it went off in the service bay. They kept it three full days and told me they replaced the clockspring. It has gone off since then a couple of times, most dangerously for blocks at a time over several miles in traffic going home.
My "total lifetime warranty" deductible is $150, which they charged me in July. I asked if they would replace the horn pad, but it is attached(?) to the airbag, so it will cost them $. How would I remove the fuse(s) for the horn; I don't know that it is needed other than for a fed regulation. Do the horn fuse(s) also cover the airbag or is that separate? I sent a long message to the service manager at the dealership giving them all the suggestions I have read online, but now I think I want to go to another dealer since mine isn't responding to me. Already posted my complaint to the NHTSA website.

When I took it in two weeks ago they just said all they found was a system update and we replaced the key. But it didn't fix problem. It seems like when it's a really hot day put the issue starts. I was thinking it was a wiring issue. That's y I took it back to my local dodge dealership
It's gonna be a faulty horn switch, nicked wire at the clock spring or the clock spring itself. This takes a real mechanic to isolate and swap out the part. Ain't no quickie plugging in a computer to the port and downloading software gonna fix it...

Goto the above site URL put in info for your DJ

Just for the record. I am having the same problem with my 2010 Dodge Journey. I have called the dealer and they are going to do some checking. Put from what I am reading here the only possilbe solutions are as follows posted by Jack - Dodge Social Care Specialist.
Here is some information that maybe helpful in addressing the issue. The dealer can review further.
Per the service manual possible causes are:
1. Horn control shorted to ground-Repair the short as necessary
2. Pinched horn switch wire under driver airbag module-Replace the horn switch
3. Inoperative horn switch-Replace the horn switch
