Default Exhaust replacement parts ??

Hi,

so the exhaust is making noise. According to my mechanic, it's the little hole for evacuation of moisture in the center part box of the exhaust system that became wider because of rust.

Problem is: Dodge only sells the whole exhaust unit (about 1000$) and my mechanic can't find only the center part box in the "Jobber" brand...

What can I do ? He told me he would try to find a piece that would fit from another car/manufacturer but is there any other way out ?

This isn't causing any damage, but it's so loud I want it fixed but no way I spend 1000 $ for this !

Anyone experienced same issue ? Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Cut out the rusty section of pipe and weld in a new section using generic exhaust tubing that any exhaust shop should have.

Thanks, actually it's not a part of pipe that is rusty but the "box" located around the middle of the car.

I asked the mechanic if we could just weld a metal piece on top of it then drill a hole at the required size, he replied then the end of the exhaust would start making noise...

That box is a muffler then. Cut it out, weld in an aftermarket, universal muffler.
