Default use R-416a for aircon hiss

Anyone with a 2009 journey with front and rear air check this out! Since day one my 2009 RT's aircon never cooled properly. The front and rear evaporators would always hiss when trying to maintain the correct temp and the compressor would make a weird cavitating type noise. I also own a 1976 ford with a flat aircon system. I charged the ford with R-416a and it blows 39 degrees at the center vent. No oil or o ring replacement needed. R-416a is a R-12 and R-134a replacement so I decided to recover the R-134a in my journey and replace it with 2 pounds of R-416a. My evaporators no longer hiss, my compressor runs quiet and my temp is 42 degrees at full cooling and the car cools faster than it did with R-134a. Give it a try! It is sold as R-416a, fr-12 and frigc.

In general, its a lot simpler if you stick with R-134a, because most AC places can recover and recharge that refrigerant only. R416A may work fine, but you will need to be prepared to do everything with your own equipment. And also you must completely remove the R-134. These two do not mix well together. I also imagine it would void the warranty.

The main component in 416a is R-134a look it up. Maybe dodge improved the a/c system after 2009 but my compressor has always been under powered. Obviously my a/c system warranty has expired. I do own the required support equipment needed to do a full recovery, vacuum and charge of my a/c system. Just trying to help all those who have posted over the years about hissing evaporators and poorly performing a/c systems.
