Default 2012 Shift ****

My brother in-law owns a 2012 Journey, automatic(if it matters lol) and I found some custom shift ***** that I want to get for us but don't want to give the surprise away by asking an obvious random question. So I was hoping someone would know what size thread is the shifter? And if there would be a reason why he couldn't change it out. The order site says he can make 10x1.25, 10x1.50 and 12x1.50. Also says he can try to work something out if it's not either of those sizes wouldn't work.

The shifter handle on the Journey is held on with
what is known as a "collet lock" as far as I know.
You release it by separating the chrome piece at
the bottom by inserting a blade/plastic tool in the
visible crack and pushing down.
You then twist and pull up at the same time (watch you
don't wack yourself in the face or destroy the rearview mirror)
that should allow you to replace it.

So does that mean it'd have to be specificly made for the journey/that clip then And not a simple screw on one would work?

It can be specific to Dodge Journey or they come with
a threaded adapter that slides on the shaft first or they
can screw clamp to the shaft.
There are mechanical/electrical connections involved.
See pics for examples and Google for units on the net.
