Default 2009 Journey SXT heater core

Looking for info on replacing my heater core in my 2009 journey SXT. Does the dash have to come out or can it be accessed without removing dash

i haven't done a journey but i have done many similar builds....to remove the heater box housing...the dash has to come out. I bet its an 8 hour job at a dealer.

I have heard that I have to remove the dash. Trying to get as much info as possible before I tear into this job. I'm going to try and flush it again and do a pressure test on just the heater core. I'm not seeing any leaking inside the car but I'm getting a slight antifreeze smell when the fan is on. Thanks for the info

i lost heat on the passenger side and the dealer told me it was a obstruction in the core and it had to be replaced, said it was a 8 hour job to r&r the dash and would cost 1200 dollars. i was able to flush the core at the firewall and removed the blockage and all has been well for the last three years.

good luck with yours.
