Default Check Engine Light

I recently had my oil changed and now my Check Engine light is lit, I am being told that it could have to do with the oil not being the right weight. how can I check this without having to take it back to the dealer

Check the oil level first and if it is on point take it back ASAP. You didn't mention which flavor, SE, SXT, RT: but with the RT utitilizing the MDS you MUST run 5/30 oil. Synthetic is a popular choice. It seems like a picky thing to be worried about, but with the complexity of the MDS, do like they say, to avoid issues.
