Default 2006 R/T Burning Oil

My 2006 R/T AWD is going through oil at a rate of about a quart every 3000 miles. It's not leaking and my coolant looks fine. So, it must be burning it, but it's not visible in the exhaust. Has anyone else seen the same thing with their 5.7L? What could be the culprit? Rings? Valve seals? I just turned 100K miles this week. Thanks in advance.

Default Using oil info

Hi, just read your thread, i know it's old but what did you find out. I just bought a 06 magnum - drove it less than 1000 miles after oil change & the oil is so low it barely registers! what did you find out about yours?

Welcome to the forum sooter2.

kowalcs' problem is actually normal. Almost 90% of the hemi's out there burn roughly a qrt every 3-5k miles. His just was catching up to him at the 100k mile marker. He was one of the lucky ones. Probably why dodge put a 7 qrt oil pan in it. LOL!!

You're problem though with the oil not even visible on the dipstick (I'm assuming this by your statement of barely registering) is either a big problem/leak or whomever did your oil change didn't put enough oil in it.

I switched from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple on the car before I sold it and my oil consumption went down to about a half quart every 5000 miles. It also eliminated my knocking/ticking on startup.

I've noticed right after you shut down the car it will read a quart low. After waiting 10 minutes it will be back up to normal. 3000 miles to a quart is not excessive, but it is more than most people expect these days.
