Default 2.7L Engine Swap

I've been searching around on the 2.7L engine to find out if the issues (e.g., sludge, bent valves, etc) have any truth to them and came across this site.

It's kind of a bittersweet find in that there are a lot of used SEs for sale around me and it's a less expensive way to acquire a Magnum but I am hesitant with the 2.7L.

Anyway, some resolution if the 2.7L craps out.

yeah, i have looked into swaping out motors, a complete 3.5 can be aquired for around 6 grand or a hemi for about 8

and the cool thing is that its an easy swap because you get the entire front suspension with the motor, and also the rear end and drive shaft.

but with gas prices rising quickly i think my 500 dollar mazda pickup is the better solution for now.

What do you all think of the 2.7L performance wise?

I am looking into a Magnum as my 2nd vehicle in the future, and am between the 2.7 and the 3.5. MPG difference is rather negligible according to the window sticker, but I wanted to know because of the price difference.

Thanks.

they changed it from the 2.7 i have in my intrepid. the magnums is better because the power is more even through the range, mine is nothing low and everything high rpm wise. but let me tell you this, for pulling a huge car like the intrepid, i can keep up with v6 mustangs.

as far as performace out of the 2.7 don't expect much, the car is just to heavy, yes the power is better spread out, but i miss that high end boost in my 2.7 concorde
