Hi I have been reading about the problems we have with our Magnum stereo systems. Some of us have noticed tat the speakers on the left seem to not work right at differnt times. So I called and emailed Boston Acoustics and spoke with Corey Philbrick he said he had not heard of this problem but would check into it . I thought well that is all I am going to hear on this. But I got an email from him today . And it looks as though some of the fixs some dealers including mine were wrong. Some dealers changed out speakers,some changed radios, and some amps, as well as other things. But it appears that it is a software problem.

were the first to mention this, and it is what sparked us to
look into the issue with Chrysler. The problem has been identified as a
software issue. Chrysler will issue a technical service bulletin once all
dealers are equipped to handle the issue. They estimate early October. Some
dealers may receive this earlier than others, so you may want to check with
your local dealer periodically. This is something that will be handled at

Ask the dealer to refer to TSB #18-016-04 to fix the Boston Acoustics system problem.

 

This is a great help. I thought i was going nuts with the left side working/not working. I was veryu disatisfied with the system because if that issue. I'll be sure to keep on top of this with the local dealership. Thanks!

 

I got a call today from Boston Acoutics to let me know they are sending out information to dealers to uplaod new soft ware for stereo amplifier. They wanted to make sure they got back with me on the complaint . I mean to tell you these guys are customer service oriented.I am glad that they want to make sure the customer is happy.

 

Now let's see what dodge does with the info...

My dealer claimed the flashed my radio when I first got the car and complained, but the problem was still there.. I replaced the radio and fixed the problem heh

Not sure who does the final integration. Visteon did the accoustics tuning. Perhaps it was Alpine.

 

I was reading that link and man I think I just read the biggest BS I've seen in a long time. Here it is,

The sound system is nothing short of junk! The speakers are paper, hardly a step above factory speakers. The radio is cheap and the amp can't even hold it's own against a $100 Jensen amp. Living room quality sound, yeah right, maybe compared to some cheap *** boom box. Anybody who pays for the upgrade is wasting their money. You can go aftermarket for a lot less and still get 10 times better. I wonder if BOSE did the advertising.

 

My car should be getting to the dealer next week. Should I ask them to see if the TSB will apply to my car? It will have the nav system with the BA audio system.

 

I am still waiting for my dealer to get updated software. I don't know why it takes so damn long from what I was told by Boston it was easy fix. But the dealer still does not have it .

 

I have the nav system with serius radio. I think the speaker system is great. I am not unfamiliar with good sound as I was in the recording business for many years. Although you can't crank the volume until it hurts, when listening to it "NORMALLY", it has excellent fidelity. It also has a feature unmentioned and that is automatic volume control. As the speed increases and the outside noise level goes up, so dies the volume. It's barely perceptible, which is also a good thing.

I have no idea why you'd want to change out this radio. I can't comment on the other radio options, but this one is great.
