I have a 2004 Dodge Neon Sxt 5-Speed with a Cold Air Intake and Catback with just a resonator no muffler. I'm filling up with about $18 and gettin about 190 -200 miles per tank? I know my brothers got a 1st gen that gets about 300. Is this a problem or am i bein picky. Thanx , Brian

I would say it is. I have a 2004 with basically the same things as you and I usually am around 260ish miles when I fill up, and that is filling up before I hit the first gas light. I'd check tire pressure, your air filter, probably check spark plugs, it should be getting better mileage than that even if you do drive like a bat out of hell it still should do better than that. By the way, you almost stole my name, I thought when I was lookin, "wtf, when did I post that?" Then I realized someone has almost the exact same name! Welcome aboard.
Mine is fully stocked and I get about 240 and that is about when the light comes on, so I could get about 260 or more if chanced it, but don't like letting it get that low. And That is driving city streets only.
ok I have a question? I don't know anything on resonators, but doesn't NOT having a muffler rob you of the back pressure you need that will make you lose some power?
Also, how many miles do you have on the car, one thing I noticed is my gas mileage improved big time after 1500 miles. Was told once that the PCM is designed for a break in period of about 1500 miles, then you get better performance. Before that I was getting about 200 miles per tank.

Exactly.
So then you are using more throttle to get more power, thus using more fuel

you hit it right on the head, When I hit a possom I ripped my muffler off and drove around ghetto style, sounded mean as all could be, but my gas mileage went to pot, i would say put some kind of high flow muffler on there to give you some backpressure, doesn't take much but the cat converter by itself isn't enough.
