Engine Knocking
Hi,
Recently, I began hearing a knocking sound coming out of my 02 Neon's engine. It only happened when I was at idle. If I was in park and revved the engine it went away, or if I accelerated. On the advice of a friend I filled up with a little bit higher grade of gasoline and now the knocking has gone away completely. I understand that this is difficult to diagnose as what I think is a knocking could be a tapping, etc. But, I'm curious if this is something that is a common issue with higher mileage neons, 105,000ish at the moment, and if I should be seriously concerned.
