Default transmission trouble

I have a 05 neon and while driving it the transmission just stopped working, it has no forward gears or rev. it has not been giving me any trouble no weird sounds or nothing. the shop wants 1400 to take it out to see what is wrong does anyone have any ideals thanks

If it's shot it's shot. I find it hard to believe a shop would charge $1400 just to take it out and look at it. How many miles I the car? Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

When that happened to me, it was the transmission fluid. I had none. Sounds basic, and I don't mean to challenge your competence, but have you checked?

yes i checked the shop checked i just never had a trans go out on me while i was driving it that way

i found it hard to belive also but thats the facts that was just the labor with parts it would be around 2500 or more i just want to know if it could be something else. like inthe ecu or the tourqe converter or something

Man, I had my transmission completely rebuilt on my chevy truck for less than that. I'd shop around. Or find a used transmission to install.
