Ditto. What year? And what do you want from the truck? How much power? Future mods? How much $$ you willing to spend on the truck?

04 Ram longbed.Honestly, I want more horsepower. And I would like to be able to do burnouts. I know it sounds immature, but a friend has a F250 on 40" Toyo M/Ts and he always shows me up. Future mods, Arc intake... try to keep it simple and reliable

If you want max power go with a smarty. You will also need at least boost and exhaust temp gauges. If you want an all in one deal get and edge with attitude a little less power but comes with full instrumentation. If your planing on burnouts and boosted launches and high horse power transmission upgrades are a must with an automatic start with a torgue converter and valve body. with a manual you will need a clutch. Gets expensive quick but a whole lot of fun.

I hear the Smarty is good for the Cummins...True...false? I know the can all F up the trucks without moderation and proper mods. I have a Tripledog now and it has done good...and bad with my truck. Jus seein what others recommend.

Edge would be my first choice, smarty second if your going for the smarty sr., if you have an auto tranny the smarty jr. it'll be easier on the tranny. As for the diablo...nah nah stay away!!! It adds way too much fueling for a sock truck it'll destroy your injectors post haste!
If your not planning on building up your tranny go with the smarty jr., its the only programer specific to Dodge Cummins diesel.

I got a Smarty Jr. for christmas. I have it set on towing. My truck with all welding gear weighs 11,000lbs. I have 35" Hankook Dynapros and I can break the tires loose with the Smarty Jr, and quite a bit of black smoke. You can also recalibrate speedometer with the Smarty Jr.

Smarty is the best programmer out there for the Dodge/Cummins. And either Smarty or Smarty Jr will fry your trans. As will other products. Just depends on how you use it. And trust me, a built trans is more than worth it!!
