Default RE: 6.7 diesel problems

all the horror stories about this problem really suck.

but until they have a fix,the probelm thatIsee isyou just don't know when to run the truck over 2,000rpm for the regen cycle to work properly and the truck must be hot when it does it. or it really does not work

so you get stuck in this cloged filter at a high rate cycle. that unless you are going to run it hard for a hour will not clear up

just today it did a regen after it was running only 2 min andthe counter went up and not down. it only goes down when it has aloaded trailer or at highway speeds

then when the counter hits 4.5 the engine light comes on.

alsoI was told by the dealer mechanic that has done all the sensor cleaning and code upgrades/clearing to run my jake brake more that 50% of the time to keep the

turbo clean

I didnt understand half the stuff you said azram2500. I keep my exhaust brake on all the time, around town I keep my RPM's at about 1500 RPM, and while on the highway I am turning between 1800 and 2000 RPM. I rarely go above 2000, only when I am punching it on the highway of passing someone.

A couple of weeks ago I was just looking around and decided to test drive a new 6.7. So went in and pick out a mega dually and when I started it the engine light went on and proceeded to stay on for the whole test drive. The salesman actually said not to worry about it that they come on all the time and wouldn't hurt to drive it that way. So needless to my wonderful 5.9 is still sitting in my driveway and not likely to be replaced anytime soon. It's got 94,000 miles and runs better than it did new, plus it'll run circles around the 6.7 that I drove.

Bought a 2008 mega cab with the 6.7 in it about 10 months ago. It has a little over 12000 miles on it. Had the turbo replaced at 8000 miles. Since then it has been in the shop at least once a week with the engine light on. They run the tests, tell me everything is fine, and like other people in this forum are experiencing it comes back on as soon as you pull out of the dealership. I don't know how many times I have been told to take it for a ride on the highway to let it regenerate. I have three kids... I don't need another one. I got the dvd about 2 months ago on how to drive your new truck and I just laugh. I have had other diesels and this is the first one that I have had to be taught how to drive. What ever happened to just putting the key in and stepping on the gas. I have had 2 radios put in and the new problem of the week is the radio decides when and how often it wants to change the channel. The good thing I found out is I can hit the dash and it will turn off and on(Fonzy style). Spent $50,000 on a truck that I have to baby. Just joined the forum and I am noticing that I am not alone with these issues.

Smile re: 6.7 diesel problems

i have a 2007, 6.7, the only problem was an engine light from plugged dpf last winter. the temp at the time was -54c !! dealer told me to keep the rpm's up in that type of cold to allow the dpf to get hot enough. 42000km and the only problem (knock on wood).

I have had my 2500 for a year now, it has 14500 miles. The turbo was changed around 4000 and has been in the shop for check the engine light six times since. Has anyone heard of the trucks being bought back by Dodge? I am tired of going to shop almost once a month and being rewarded with a $600 note each month. Thanks in advance
for any comments.

I dont understand why there are so many turbo swaps going on... either they work or they dont. is the wastegate being stuck open? or not opening? over boost? no power or what?
