What does REMOVING intake baffling do?
i heard lots say it gives more turbo noise but does it help or does it reduce airflow? Does it make things worse or not? I know on the big diesel trucks there is nothing in their piping(elbows, str8s, etc..)Just a huge air filter enclosed. Why did dodge/cummins throw baffling and air deflectors in our intake piping there must be a reason?
Who has removed baffling and deflectors in elbow? and have you seen MPG increase?
Also wondering what that thing is in my str8 piece from elbow up to filter? feels like theres a cross shaped thing in there can i gut it all?

Your not alone. I took out the white fins in the lower elbow and used a dremel to remove the guts out of the hard black plastic tube in the middle. No difference in performance but BIG difference in turbo noise. I am running stock muffler for now and wanted to increase the turbo whine but keep a stock look to the tubing.
