Default DODGE and CUMMINS

I heard today and looked a lil up about this but i heard that the dodge and cummins contract will be up and ford will start putting the cummins motors in their trucks and dodge will have to go to cat for motors so anyone know anything about it or is there any truth to this?

ford is doing their own inhouse built diesel, once they complete their contract with navistar/international.

I saw another question simalar to this on another forum. They said it was all rumors. Dodge's contract may be up but they will have another contract going before that ends. Ford wanted cummins but nothing was ever finailised, so for a while it looked like both dodge and ford would have cummins. But like said above they now want to own there diesels due to navistar not supporting their warrenty, And forcing ford to pay the bill.

Ahh the popular "Ford's gonna get cummins" rumor. Not true in the least bit. I work for Ford as a diesel tech so I'll enlighten ya a bit. As Splat mentioned, Ford is currently designing their own diesel engine for their pickups. They actually have two, one is going to be for the 1/2 ton trucks and supposedly will be released sometime in 09, and of course the other will be replacing the current 6.4 Powerstroke. Dodge on the other hand will likely stick with cummins to the end. The diesel engine they will be putting in their 1/2 ton trucks is going to be a cummins, and the 6.7 will likely stay for a while seein as it already meets 2010 emissions.

We have a F-700 at work that is a '93 and it has a cummins in it. Ford has used Cummins in their 2 ton trucks for quite a while.

yes ford with their F650 uses the cummins...thats one of three engne options, the other two are the C7 Cat and the (depending what ford is using from navistar) the 7.3, 6.0 and I suppose now the 6.4 and these come hooked up to an allison tranny as well!

are ford 650 with the cummins 6.7 experiencing the same problems dodge owners are?

Not likely cummins just spent millions in dollars and in time developing new v6 and v8 diesels for dodges light duty trucks, the rumers have always swerlied like with toyota going with cat since they are partners in sponserships, but then toyota came out with a concept dullie with a all jap Hino diesel, only ones that know for sure are the companies themsevles, on another note I hope that rummer isnt true, cummins and dodge are likr penut butter and jelly...
