Default New guy with question, go figure.

Some friends of my have a speed shop and they resently put in a dyno. They have been running gas powered cars ok. Tonight we put the owners'03 3500 Cummins diesel and could get HP ratings but no Torque because none of us know where to hook up the RPM sensor, no spark plugs. I would like to get my '05 3500 CD on the dyno as well. So now with the question; does anyone know where the tach gets its signal from? I am figuring from the cam as that is where the injectors get there signal to inject. Any useful help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: New guy with question, go figure.

if you have a piezoelectric pickup clamp you could attach that to the fuel line going to #1 injector. also if the dyno has it you can attach an optical pickup on the crank pully. thats the two main ways to get torque readings from diesels while on the dyno you used.
