Stuck in first gear.
I've an issue with the automatic transmission in my 3500, hope someone here can point me in the right direction. The transmission isn't wanting to shift from 1st to 2nd, and on the rare occasions that it does shift, there's no futher problems with shifting to any gear, till the truck is cut off. Then it's start all over time.
I changed the filter a fluid over the weekend in hopes that the problem would be solved, but it didn't help. Now my hope is that maybe it's one of the sensors that's screwed into the side of the housing. Any sugestions out there???

Thanks for the quick response and advice, NOW, is this something that I should replace with a stock item or is there something out there better? Having said that, I'm more into pulling trailer loads of antique engines and tractors over smokin' the tires, but that's not to say that I wouldn't mind an extra 50+ foot pounds of torque. But guess the trany needs to come first. Buy the way, I noticed the trany pan in the pictures is other than stock. Any benifits from it on a humble stock unit vs. the torque monster you've got?

Sounds like somemore good advice, I also like the "Made in USA" on it, but my local parts dealers aren't coming up with anything, even the usual import replacement stuff. I ran into this problem before when the crank position sensor and the oil pressure sending unit crapped out and I had to go to the dealership for a replacement part.
A quick Google for the B/W #50185 didn't fetch anything ether, or I ain't looking good enough. Any resorce for these parts that you might turn me on to, or is it a trip to the dealership?

Is this on all cars or just 3500 trucks
PS THAT SOME MEAN STATS. WOULD LOVE TO GET MY 2004 DODGE RAM 1500 UP TO THOSE NUMBERS! ONLY AT 435 WITH A BAD REAR END(BAD AS IN BAD,BROKEN, FALL OUT ANY DAY).

my wife has a 1999 jeep grand cherekee with a 4.0, v6, 2wd and it delays when shifting from 1-2. You have to let off the gas for it to shift. Also it boggs down when you make a turn like on to a side road and the wheels are turned and you hit the gas. Any ideas on this any thing will be welcome.

Then that's your baby.
It's for all the RE transmission.
Best thing to do though is get the governor pressure tested.
It should be NO HIGHER than 3 psi in drive and not moving.
It should smoothly rise approx 1 psi for every MPH increase in speed.
If it's anything other than that, it's the gov solenoid or pressure sensor.
