Default looks like I'm replacing the turbo

So, had to replace my flexplate so I installed a BD flexplate. Everything went pretty smooth, about as good as it could aside fromn the exhaust not wanting to come apart. Got everything back in, and started right up. Bout a day later, oil is gushing, ok not really gushing but pretty close to it, out of the exhaust side of the turbo. Today I took the turbo off, pulled it apart and what would ya know, the shaft is bent and the turbine side is f*@#ed up. Compressor side is still good and it looks like the housing is still ok. Did a thorough inspection of the bearings and they are still good. Now my question is this: Is there somewhere that I can purchase just the shaft and turbine? I have looked at a lot of different sites and cannot seam to find what I am looking for. So without further ado, the shaft and turbine. Sorry for the garbage pictures, camera phone.

ebay usually has turbo parts and complete turbos for decent prices, how ever from the looks of things you also need a housing, with that much wheel damage, the housing is almost definatly fubar'ed, and if the bearings are ok, chances are you have another issue, like the housing had to of seperated from the cartrage, or a piece of a piston found its way out of the cylinder, you might want to look into what caused it, because that is not a normal turbo failure

From my inspection and everything, it appeared that the housing was in fact seperated from the cartridge. As far as the housing being fubared, it looks ok. I will go out in a minute to take a picture of it and will post shortly.

Ok, so here are pictures of the turbo disassembled. Haven't really gotten the time to do a real thorough cleaning just yet. Need to get some more dremel attachments to really clean it up good. And the pictures are kinda crappy do to using a camera phone. It appears that the worse damage is to the plate that goes behind the turbine wheel. So any comments or suggestions are encouraged.

Default just a thought

not trying to be a smart ***, but what about an upgrade, i don't know if an upgrade turbo would fit stock, but for myself i would look at that, maybe.

I have other toys for going fast. This is just my dd/tow rig. The only reason I put a performance flexplate in it is because the dealership wanted almost the same price. As for performance turbos, I just wanna get it back on the road. I don't need to be putting mad money into this truck right now. But I did order a new turbo from ebay today. I couldn't pass it up. It was about 1/3 that the FLAPS wanted for a rebuilt turbo.

It's all good man. And no, I'm not mad about your post. It is always best to ask questions like that. I know there are some folks out there who wouldn't even consider turbo upgrades. For my application, I just don't need an upgraded turbo.

New turbo came in. It all went together very nicely and easily aside from the down pipe. The flange had rusted through, prolly from being up north in CT, so I broke out the welder and fixed it up. Man is it nice to see 32mpgs and up on the overhead. Lets just pray I don't break anything else on this thing. Turns out 8 codes popped up after I was done. Went to the parts store, had em read and cleared, and now no more dash light. Looks like I'm good for now. Oh, and I replaced the air filter. It really needed it.
