Default 98 dodge dully transmission

Hey i have 98 dodge dully 3500 1 ton pickup it has a 5 speed automatic trans in it the motor is 5.9 in line 6 my tans will not shift to low nor will it go in over drive even when i come to a stop it wont shift down to 1st i have to shift it down to 1st but it only goes to 2nd it will not go to first but it does shift to drive but no futher any help thanks

Your transmission maybe a 4 speed automatic, 47RE. I would replace the governor solenoid and transducer, then replace the filter and adjust the bands. But i would move your post to the Diesel section. You may get more response there.

i have a 99 diesel is the reverse band replacable or adjustable without removing the transmission ?

The governor pressure sensor and transducer is most likley the down shift problem. Changing the filter and fluid is always good and has to be done anyway when replacing these pieces. The overdrive may be corrected by replacing the out put shaft sensor, but that is just a common sense guess for it.
