Default new to the site. newbie questions

I have a 06 Ram 3500, I was wondering what mods I should focus on first.
if I buy a tuner/programmer do I also need gauges and what supporting mods should I look into? opinions on straight pipes or leaving the cat on?
all answers are greatly appreciated.

Gauges should alwaysn be a priorty if turning up the power, and a straight pipe without a cat will be an improvement. Just removing the cat will help.
