I have a 99 2500 dodge diesel 5.9 when I have it in park or neutral it runs fine when I put it in gear it dies,I've replaced the ecm and tbs and the truck still does the same..any help please

 

I'd crawl underneath and unplug the transmission harness. Fire it up and see if it still stalls out when you shift into gear.

It's either an electrical fault - stuck torque converter lockup relay, short in the harness, erroneous signal from the PCM - or it's a grenaded torque converter.

Unplugging the harness will eliminate all of the electrical faults. If it still does it, it's a mechanical problem.

You very well may get a check engine light for your troubles, but at least you'll be one step closer to figuring it out.

If it's electrical, pull the relay and verify that it is operating properly.

 

truck runs great when its in park and neutral,but when we put it in gear we don't have any throttle,I can press down on the gas pedal and it don't rev up it just idles.. changed the ecm and apps,please help me..

 

Where's your fuel pressure?

 

I'm betting TC is toast...

 

Yeah I'm not sure what he's got going on. First post says it dies, second post says it just idles.
