Default New 2500 questions

I was recently looking into a new 2500 with the 6.4 hemi, (I know this is the diesel forum but you guys know more about the 3/4 ton platform) and I just had a few questions,

how's the new Trans?
Is there alot of torque management?
Hows the ride compared older Gens?
Dare I ask fuel mileage lol
How's the power compared to the 5.7
Does it have the famous hemi tick?

Any other weird things with the newer 2500s?
Any must have packages? I'm looking at a base model crew cab 4x4 for around 38k...oh yeah any idea on how much I should pay?

Thanks in advance guys

What are you going to use the truck for? A diesel will get better fuel mileage. Better towing capacity. More power when towing.

The Trans is light years better than back in 2nd Gen days, but still the Achilles heel IMO.

Torque Management still sucks but a recent flash makes the dead pedal issue almost non existant, at least on the CTD.

Ride is night/day. The 3 link and 5 link coil systems are fantastic, empty or loaded.

I have only driven 6.4 twice but reports from guys I know are about 16 why / 11-12 overall. In my 2500 CTD 4x4 I get about 19 overall and have hit 24 on trips - hand calculated.

Power is enough that the butt dyno can tell the difference between a 5.7 and 6.4. But the 5.7 in an 8 speed 1500 feels like a lot more power than any gas 2500 offering.

The tick is there but you really gotta listen for it or remove all the plastic on top the engine.

Thanks, I had an 04 hemi crew before and the Trans started slipping after about 3 years...alot of heavy towing tho, I currently have a 99 cummins 5spd now but I changed professions so I don't tow alot anymore, at most it'll be a camper or boat...truth is 2500s hold there value a whole lot better than 1/2 tons but I don't have the need or coin for a Cummins anymore so 2500 hemi ftw lol..

I am getting 19-20+ miles to the gallon with 2015 2500 Laramie diesel. I live in the foothills. Owner of almost 4 weeks. Love the truck. I know pulling a 5th wheel will be less.

You'll get a little better as the Cummins breaks in. I get about 24 mpg on trips, non towing, a couple hundred pounds of gear if I don't do much over 70 mph on the interstates...
