No chip... tuner...

You'll hear arguments saying Smarty, Edge and Bullydog. Can't really go wrong with any of the three...

Exactly. You will hear arguments. I've had a bully dog triple dog on mine for the last 4 years. I've had it on the tow/economy setting that entire time, it didn't help much with fuel mileage but I could feel a bit more power. On the extreme setting, it sure woke up that motor! But my clutch would slip around 2300 rpm.

I've done some research, and I'm ditching my bully dog and getting a smarty jr in the future. The main reason is, I've heard many success stories of people actually gaining 2 mpg (will vary depending on your right foot I know) and that's what I'm mostly after. Then I plan on getting the Edge Insight CTS2 monitor to digitally monitor parameters. But I do love the occasional extra 100hp once in awhile, who doesn't . Edge, bully dog, etc they're all good brands, or they wouldn't be in business.

One more thing, I know I'm my sig it says I just own a 1995 2500 V8, I just haven't listed my diesel on there yet. It's a 2005 4 door cummins long bed 4x4 6 speed manual in flame red.

I would stay away from bully dog everyone I know that has had one has had their trans eaten alive. But that goes with tuning any truck with a stock trans.

My buddy had a smarty on his 06 which was pretty good. Can't go wrong with edge either. I do believe you can get EFI live on your truck nowadays. that will wake the beast up

Everything in moderation. I've even seen much more stout Allison transmissions bite the big one with aggressive tuning...
