1998 Dodge cummins with a 12 valve ?????????
I have a 1998 cummins with a 12 valve in it. Its a regular cab with an automatic and 285/16 tires. I absolutely love the pickup but im wanting to know what i could do to it without spending a ton of money but want to make it perform alittle better. But am afraid of tearing out the tranny or the rear end. Right now i have the injection pump turned up very little but all it did was make it smoke black. For exhaust all it has is the converter but no muffler. Should i take the converter off 2? Pick up only has 93000 so im not afraid of pump or injection problems. If you have any advise it would be appreciated. ALSO LOOKIN TO BUY A REPLACEMENT BUMPER WITH THE GRILLE GUARD ON IT. LOCATED IN NEBRASKA. SOMETHING CLOSE WOULD BE GOOD. THANKS JARED

rip that cat off and throw on a 4 inch exhaust.
there is so much that can be done to a P pumped 12 valver to make power on the cheap I'd run out of room.look over diesel truck resource or click the TDR badge in my sig and you can hunt around and find what your looking for.

by turning up your fuel pump all you did was make it burn rich, and probably lost power and you will fail emmissions. you need to add more air with the fuel to make more power. look for computer upgrades and if you have a turbo, waste gate upgrades. K&N air filter, Exhaust lets the motor breathe free with less back pressure

You can't get a chip for a 12V, it's a mechnical pump. I slide my stock plate forward all the way and I can tell a significant difference. You can go w/ a #10 fuel plate and it shouldn't hurt your tranny too much as long as you don't slide it all the way forward. You could go w/ some injectors but you would have to get some small ones and they would only leave you wanting more.
