Default Did the 1 ton Ram Van ever come with a 3.9 diesel?

If so, which year? How did it perform?

The 3.9L gas engine was used up to the 3/4 ton, not in the 1 ton. The engine IMHO is a little anemic for the 3/4 ton van, it does a fine job in the 1/2 ton and would not want one in the 1 ton.

EDIT: missed the diesel question. I believe the 3.9L Diesel was used beginning in the Sprinter series vans. Might ask the question on the Sprinter side of this forum.

The Diesel engine is a Sprinter offering only. It is a Mercedes-Benz engine.

Sprinter engine was a 2.9 inline 5, not a 3.9. Are you sure you're not thinking of a Cummins 6 cyl? And the answer is no, there was no diesel offering in the vans.
