^ I don't think he's saying that an oscilloscope is a bad diagnostic tool, I think he's saying it's not the only diagnostic tool.

Nothing is wrong with it. The intent of my remark was not to dismiss the oscilloscope as a valuable diagnostic tool. My intent was to say that some depend too heavily on the diagnostic tools telling them what's wrong and they'd be lost or unable to cope without them.

So I finally heard back from the service advisor about Horton. He claims the tech found no code 35 when it was in. I find that really hard to believe given the van was running rough & stalling every now & then. They say they will diagnose the Idle contact switch problem at no charge. I don't think these guys know what they are doing, he said they researched the problem yesterday. So it's a scary thought to take it back to them.
