Question Ram Van 250 Stalling when shifted to reverse

Hello, I did a quick search on here and didn't really find an answer. today after adding just a little bit of Lucas transfix and being out for a about 20 mins I came back and when I went to shift to reverse the engine stalled, started right back up and didn't do it again. I have experienced some horse power reduction lately. I'm thinking intermittent transmission problem, although it's only done this once so far, or maybe it's a clogged fuel filter? Anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?
Thanks
Ken

Although there are several common reasons for an engine to stall when shifting, they're all engine related except one. That one being if the lock-up clutch in the tranny/torque converter is engaging. This has the equivalent effect of letting out a clutch while in 4th gear in a manual tranny.

So then it is possible that the problem is with the tranny and it could be a gear possibly, reverse, that's getting ready to go? Looks like I may have a serious problem real soon! How can I know for sure without taking it to a specialist? Last time I did that, it was for a Toyota Camper and it was to Aamco and they gave it a death sentence in Flagstaff Arizona but it made it to Las Vegas where we finally replaced the tranny. I am not taking a long trip just 145 miles but I will need to pull a Uhaul.
Thanks

You can't, it's all educated guesswork, even by the specialists.
