Default Need some help with my 95 3500 van

I have a 1995 dodge 3500 extended van that just died and I'm in the process of saleing it. It was running then it started to sputter then almost like backfired then died. I started and it ran for another block and then died again. It will crank and you can smell the gas but nothing is happening. The crankshaft position sensor was just replaced. Im not all that knowledgable on newer dodge vans. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

A code 41 indicates a problem with the field wiring going to the alternator, or a problem with the field circuit within the alternator itself. Are you positive it was a code 41 and not a code 42? I ask only because a code 42 has to do with the fuel pump circuit which could cause sputtering and stalling.

For your other problem...do you have spark?

Yes I have spark, not sure if I need to check all wires but I checked #6 yesterday and there was spark. It said 41. When I go to start it smells like gas real bad and just keeps cranking.

For some reason however it would not read the vehicle info when I typed in 95 cause all my paperwork says 95 but the door placard says 94 so that is what I put into the code reader and it came up with 41.

Well since you have spark and are getting a gas smell, then you could be looking at too much fuel being allowed in by one or more fuel injectors. Have you done a fuel pressure test to make sure the pressure isn't above specifications?

Oh and did you catch it above when I said, a code 41 indicates a problem with the field wiring going to the alternator, or a problem with the field circuit within the alternator itself.
