Default 92 d250 spedo/odo problems.

Bought a 92 d250 ram van today and drove it about 80 miles back to the city where i live. About 30-40 miles in i noticed quite a bit of heat coming from the floor figured the tranny was getting hot then shortly after i notice the heat the spedo dropped to zero and stopped working. I did notice the odo and trip were not working from the get go. Any ideas?

Sounds like your catalytic converter got real hot and possibly melted the wiring going to the sensor on the tranny.

Check the drivers side of the tranny for the speed sensor. The connector may be on an item that can rotate (other plugs are fixed and don't move).

Follow that plug towards front of van to check for the melted wire as mentioned.

Mine came unscrewed somehow and stopped reading speed and distance. No error lights for me when it happened.
