Default another fuel pump question

2003 ram van. runs about 15 minutes and quits, removed tank and fuel pump. hooked everything back up with assembly on ground under van. pump will run for few seconds then stop. will run continuously if cranking engine over but not with key in on position..? is this normal ? with jumper wire pump runs fine with good pressure. just trying to isolate problem. pump or pcm ? read way too much stuff on internet and none of it is getting me anywhere . getting desperate and mad. any ideas are certainly welcome. beginning of this problem was a no start situation parking after short drive and got in van and it cranked properly but no spark.. gauges dead. half hour later gauges were fine and started, went 2 miles and stopped. wait.. repeat. there is power to fuel pump when first turning key to on position, for a few seconds, and then doesn't run again until key is turned to start position. runs with pressure while cranking. back to on, flow stops. all fuses good. battery a+.

That's unfortunate. Based on the symptoms you've described it was either the crank sensor or the PCM.

really just a guess but how about trying a new coil?
the other thing, I have had good success with putting this stuff on the contacts of the PCM

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/produc...00S-2-/200-150

I also spray it on all of the ground strap contact points which have been known to cause problems

I think you have a connection issue somewhere.

If the issue is temperature dependent, it is very likely to be the PCM but there is a possibility its just a bad ignition coil. If the coil is not cracked and checks ok and the issue occurs randomly, I would suspect the ignition switch.
