Default short whl-base fuel capacity??

Does anyone know what the fuel capacity is for the 98 short wheel base b1500?? Everywhere I can find says 32gal capacity. But I don't believe that's correct, as I was at 1/16th of a tank an it only took 26 gallons to fill.

I managed 425 miles from my last fill up. If I do the math then that means 425 divided by 32 gallons is only 13.1 mpg.. I have a "non hi-top" 3.9/3spd/3:55s with only 143k miles and no CEL's. My van was a single owner van who was very picky with maintenance. Its rated at 15 city and 17 highway..

I baby my van everywhere and only do 50-53 with it. Plus where I live, there's really no stop and go.. Its all highway/country roads..

Could it possibly be a 28-29 gallon tank in the shorter chassis vans??

the range on the gauge isn't accurate...... your tank is that size, I put 33 gallons into mine when I did my fuel pump. I have a 3.9l, 1996... and that mileage is right as well, I get mid 13.5-14.5 depending on how much city driving I do

also, how much you were able to get in, doesn't really mean much, depending on the weather, it will accept more or less fuel

IIRC the short WB has a 31 and the standard a 35...

and yes the gauge isn't that accurate. Many older American cars have the same gauge operation...from F ot 1/4 it drops pretty quick, then from 1/4 to E takes for ever. I estimate on E I still have 5-6 gallons in the tank.

Cool .. Atleast now I can understand where the last 5-6 gallons were hiding when I filled it up last.. Makes a little more sense to me now.. Thanks guys!!
